The story of la Maïoun Guesthouse
Do you know what Maïoun means ?
It means “home” in Nice language and it reflects our story and the spirit of this place. At la Maïoun eveything is homemade, and we really hope you will feel at home !
Our place has also a long story... La Maïoun has been built in a former Protestant temple dating from 1856 !
During the “Contre-Reforme“, the protestantism has been completely eliminated. The Protestant churches were reintroduced in the middle of 19th century, by the Swiss from “canton of Vaud”
The chapel is still located on the ground floor and welcome parishioners on Sunday mornings. You may have the opportunity to hear them singing during your stay.
The first floor was the presbytery. It used to be an office for a while, then was unoccupied for about fifteen years before becoming our “Maïoun” & welcoming travelers from all over the world since 2017 🙂
